Jam Sessions

Within the intricate web of a modular synthesizer, a sonic odyssey unfolds. The sounds blur and meld, each waveform cascading seamlessly into the next, creating a labyrinthine tapestry of electronic resonance. Amidst this sonic chaos, a steady bass line emerges, grounding the listener in its relentless pulse. The drums weave a rhythmic pattern that somehow captivates. This hypnotic journey is not merely an improvisation; it’s a reflection—an abstract narrative echoing the tumultuous experiences and profound introspections of the past year, encapsulated in an electronic anomaly. Trying to draw what I was listening, the picture became a reflection of the music’s soul.
Shamanic rituals often involve inducing altered states of consciousness, allowing participants to connect with the spiritual world. Similarly, techno music, with its repetitive beats and hypnotic rhythms, can lead dancers into a trance-like state where they become immersed in the music and lose themselves in the experience.
This jam session consists of a bass line from the DFAM and two melodies playing in the background. Halfway through, the second melody comes to the fore and turns into an unmelodic bass line created with FM.
In this jam session, a melodic sequence from the Metropolix was toned down and combined with a rhythmic bass line from the DFAM. The abrupt transitions between the different representations of the same sequence force a connection between conflicting emotions.
Before this jam session, the sound design of the system was limited and the analog control of the rhythmic tracks via switches made it difficult to implement live performances spontaneously. For these reasons, some system improvements have been made. In addition, the improved system enables the creation of transitions between different sounds and sequences.
